2004

1-2 April 2004 the first international conference on Asian innovation systems in Bangkok. About 150 professionals who participated in the conference agreed to organize the ASIALICS conference annually. At the same time, Asian Journal of Technology Innovation was created in 2004 on the occasion of the conference.

2005

17-20 April, Jeju Island, Korea the 2nd ASIALICS Conference was organized jointly by Science and Technology Policy Institute (STEPI) and Korea Society of Innovation Management and Economics (KOSIME) on "Innovation Policy and Management in Changing Asia”. About 120 professional people participated and 60 papers were presented in the conference.

2006

16-19 April, Shanghai, China the 3rd ASIALICS Conference was organized by Tongji University on the theme “From Imitation to Innovation: Asia Meets Global Challenges”.

2007

22-24 July, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia the 4th ASIALICS Conference was organized by University of Malaya on the theme “Making Innovation Work for Society: Experiences from Asia.”

2008

2-4 April, Bangalore, India the 5th ASIALICS Conference was organized by Indian Institute of Management (IIM Bangalore) on the theme “From Manufacturing to Services: Changing Role of Innovation System”.

2009

6-7 July, Hong Kong, China the 6th ASIALICS Conference was organized by The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology on the theme “Linkages in Innovation Systems: Global and Local Perspectives.”

2010

15-17 April, Taipei, Taiwan the 7th ASIALICS Conference was organized by Chung-Hua Institute for Economic Research (CIER) on the theme “Global Recession and Reform of Innovation Systems in Asia.” In the organization committee meeting, the Charter of ASIALICS was first discussed and passed to implement for formalizing the network. According to the Charter, chairman of the ASIALICS Conference organization committee is to be called as the president of ASIALICS and the office of secretariat is located at the head office in the home of country of the president. The first president elected was Dr. Mai Ha at NISTPASS.

2011

7-9 April, Hanoi, Vietnam the 8th ASIALICS Conference was organized by National Institute for Science and Technology Policy and Strategy Studies (NISTPASS), Vietnam on the theme “Innovation for Sustainable Development and Climate Change Resilience in Asia.” Professor Velasco Aida at De La Salle University, Philippines was elected as the next president of ASIALICS for the period of May 2011-October 2012.

2012

4-5 October, Manila, Philippines the 9th ASIALICS Conference was organized by De La Salle University on the theme “Innovation and Appropriate Technology for the Development and Inclusive Growth of Asian SMEs.” Professor Patarapong Intarakumnerd at GRIPS, Japan was elected as the next president of ASIALICS for the period of October 2012-September 2013.

2013

19-21 September, Tokyo, Japan 10th ASIALICS Conference was organized by National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPS) in Tokyo, Japan on “The Roles of Public Research Institutes and Universities in Asia’s Innovation Systems”. Professor Kong-Rae Lee at DGIST, Korea was elected as the next president of ASIALICS for the period of October 2013-September 2014. ASIALICS Korea, a country level legal entity of ASIALICS was also formed and approved by the Ministry of Science, ICT & Future Planning (MSIP).

2014

25-27 September, Daegu, Korea 11th ASIALICS Conference was organized by DGIST (Daegu-Gyeongbuk Institute of Science and Technology) on “Convergence, Innovation and Creative Economy” in Daegu, South Korea. Professor Kong-rae Lee and Professor Jang-Hyun Kim were Co-chairpersons of the conference. About 300 professional participated in the conference and 150 papers were presented.

2015

15-16 September, Yogyakarta, Indonesia 12th ASIALICS Conference was organized by LIPI (Center for Science and Technology Development Studies, Indonesian Institute of Science) on “Innovation Driven Natural Resource Based Industry” in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Dr. Trina Fizzantry and Dr. Erman Aminullah were Co-chairpersons of the conference.

2016

30 September - 4 October, Bangkok, Thailand The 13th ASIALICS Conference was organized by Public Policy Development Office of Thai Innovation Agency on the theme of “Area based Innovation System” at Bangkok Centara Plaza Hotel, Bangkok, Thailand. Dr. Chairatana Pun-arj, President of the Thai Innovation Agency, was Chairperson of the conference. Approximately 350 professionals from 27 countries participated in the conference.

2017

29 August - 2 September, Tehran, Iran The 14th ASIALICS Conference was organized by Iran Association for Management of Technology (IRAMOT) on the theme of “Technological Learning, Innovation and Catching up in the Context of International Collaboration” at International Conference Center, Tehran Shahid Beheshti University. Dr. Ebrahim Souzanchi Kashani, Professor of Sharif university of Technology was Chairperson of the conference. Approximately 350 local and foreign professionals participated in the conference.
